Clean, well maintained tools are very important to the health of your plants. Say goodbye to rusty tools and dull blades, and join us for a hands-on workshop in the HOEC Community Orchard with Master Gardener Anthony Yeznach!
Learn all about tool care and maintenance to ensure best performance in your garden or orchard. In this workshop, we will explore:
How to select quality tools.
The mechanisms of how tools wear.
How and when to touch-up or sharpen a tool.
A basic understanding of lubrication and protective coatings.
Care of edged tools, such as pruning shears, loppers, knives, machetes.
Care of non-cutting tools such as shovels, forks, hand-spades, etc.
Care of toothed tools - brief overview of sharpening, benefits of replacement blades, etc.
Maintenance, cleaning, and disinfecting tips.
Know before you go:
One pair of dull used pruning shears or a knife.
Reading glasses if you typically need them, we will be doing "close-up" work.
Bring your own water bottle.
