ABOUT HOEC CSA
The 2025 CSA is closed, but stay tuned for 2026! By joining our CSA, you’re not just bringing home fresh, peak-season fruit—you’re supporting local agriculture, investing in community health, and choosing a more sustainable way to eat. We offer share sizes for individuals, households, and even homesteaders! Come back to this page in spring 2026 to secure your share.
WHAT COMES IN THE INDIVIDUAL / HOUSEHOLD BOXES?
If you love exploring new tastes and want to sample a wide variety of apples & pears, this share is for you! The primary focus of this share, is our unique mix of heirloom, modern, and lesser known apples and pears. Also included is a sampling of other interesting fruits such as aronia, elderberry, grapes, quince, persimmons, and more - the exact variety of fruits depends on the weather and the harvest. All fruit is grown and harvested in our community orchard using organic practices.
Each box varies, but the photos below are examples from some of our 2024 fruit boxes:
WHAT COMES IN THE HOMESTEADERS BOUNTY BOXES?
Each box is filled with 25 pounds of #2 fruit. Perfect for processing, baking, preserving, or juicing! Ugly Fruit Deserves Love Too! #2 fruit is fruit that may have minor blemishes or damage that does not affect freshness or taste. These blemishes can be surface-level, such as sun burn or minor pest damage from things like codling moth, which can be easily cut away. You may have heard this referred to as “ugly” or “imperfect” produce. Ugly fruit is perfect for baking, juicing, preserving, or processing. In some cases, like watercore (sought after for making superior tasting applesauce or pressed cider due to its high concentration of sugars), “blemishes” can make your creations even MORE delicious!
