Summer Workshop Series: Pruning Primer: Saturday August 1st, 2026 11am-1pm

from $30.00

Join us in the HOEC Community Orchard for an afternoon focused on the essential techniques of pruning fruiting plants. Learn how thoughtful pruning supports plant health, improves fruit production, and helps shape strong, productive trees and vines.

This workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as those looking to refresh their skills or learn something new. We’ll cover the fundamentals, including tool selection, safety practices, proper pruning cuts, and the best timing for different plants. Instruction will be flexible and focus on the species grown in the orchard and those that interest attendees most.

Tree fruits, vining fruits, and small fruits will all be explored, with plenty of time for questions. Participants are also welcome to ask about pruning ornamental plants. Whether you’re maintaining a backyard tree or just getting started, this workshop will give you the confidence to prune with purpose.

Know before you go:

  • All workshops are held outdoors rain or shine. Please dress for the weather.

  • Bring your own water bottle.

Refunds:

  • Due to limited class space, please note: workshops are non-refundable after purchase with the exception of weather related campus closures.

We look forward to learning with you!
