Summer Pruning Apples and Pears! Saturday, August 3 • 11am-1pm

Join us in the HOEC Community Orchard for an afternoon of guided hands-on summer pruning instruction and practice!

Proper summer pruning works to open the canopy and get more light to developing fruit, is important for an abundant yield and is a great time to work on size control.

We will start the day with a brief introduction and demonstration on the best summer pruning practices for apples & pears.

After the demonstration and a chance to ask questions, each student will havea chance to work on one tree that will be hand selected according to their confidence and skill level. This class is great for beginners as well as a more seasoned pruner who wants to build confidence and speed.

Know before you go:

• If you have them, please bring bypass hand pruners, bypass loppers, and a pruning saw if. If you do not, you may borrow from our stash.

• All workshops are held outdoors rain or shine. Please dress for the weather.
